Economic Development in New Berlin and Waukesha County
What does the Foxconn announcement mean for Waukesha County, and specifically New Berlin
Please join us on Thursday August 17, 2017 for special presentations by Waukesha County executive Paul Farrow, and Tim Casey, economic development director for the Waukesha County Center for Growth as they discuss economic development activities in Waukesha County and the potential impact of the recently announced plans by Foxconn to build a 20 million square foot manufacturing facility in Southeast Wisconsin. We have also invited New Berlin director of community development, Greg Kessler, to discuss development opportunities and provide a local perspective.
County executive Farrow was recently appointed as a co-chair of the Milwaukee 7 Regional Economic Development Partnership (M 7). He will share his perspective on where Waukesha county fits into the overall plans and activities of the M 7. He will also discuss the expected economic impact of the Foxconn plant for Waukesha county businesses.
Waukesha Center for Growth director, Tim Casey will discuss economic development activities and opportunities in Waukesha county and explain the process for businesses that want to expand or relocate to the area. He will also detail the steps being taken to help local suppliers and manufactures connect with supplier opportunities. The staff at Center for Growth is already researching the variety of materials and components that Foxconn will need for its manufacturing operations in Wisconsin and will look for connections to local suppliers.
The Foxconn development has the potential to impact and reshape Southeastern Wisconsin for years to come.
