- The New Berlin Chamber of Commerce has put together a highly regarded panel of experts to provde you an overview of what to expect in the years ahead including the latest details and developments from the new Foxconn development in Pleasant Prairie.
How big of a change will it really be?
Think about the vast changes that occurred during the last three Industrial Revolutions with the advent of steam and water power, electricity and assembly lines, and most recently, computerization.
Industry 4.0 will not only revolutionize the way things get done, it will even challenge our ideas about what it means to be human. In his book, The Fourth Industrial Revolution, Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, describes the enormous potential like this; " The changes are so profound that, from the perspective of human history, there has never been a time of greater promise or potential peril".
Our Guest Speakers include industry expert Matt Kirchner of Lab Midwest.
- Matt Kirchner is an international Speaker on topics of interest to Educators and Industrial Employers. Kirchner serves as President of world-class curriculum, eLearning and training equipment distributor L A B M i d w e s t. a company that he acquired in 2015. In addition to his role with LAB Midwest, Kirchner is President of Profit360, LLC, a provider of management advisory services. Kirchner writes monthly leadership columns appearing in Products Finishing and Production Machining magazine and is the author of ?Teaching the Industrial Internet of Things: Preparing Students and Learners for Industry 4.0.
- Mike Shiels,Dean of Applied Technology at Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), will discuss the ways Industry 4.0 will change the education and employment training needs of workers and how the technical schools are adapting to meet the new needs.
WCTC has been a leader in Workforce Development issues and programs, so much so, that they were selected to host a two day exhibition of New Foxconn technology and products, and received a visit by President Donald Trump and Governor Scott Walker in 2017.
Representatives from the School District of New Berlin have been invited to share how their programing is also changing and adapting to better prepare students for the jobs and technologies of tomorrow.
In his book Professor Schwab describes his concerns that "decision - makers are too often caught in traditional, linear (and non- disruptive) thinking, or too absorbed by immediate concerns, to think strategically about the forces of disruption and innovation shaping our future."
We are excited to offer you this presentation to get you thinking strategically about the changes, challenges, and opportunities that lay ahead.
